Xiaomi has officially begun testing its new operating system, Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0. There had been rumors about this update for a few weeks, but now we know for sure it’s in development. XiaomiTime recently discovered some information confirming that HyperOS 2.0 is being tested. This new system is expected to launch in October.
Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 Testing:
Xiaomi is stepping up development on their upcoming HyperOS 2.0 update! Their update server now has a new code called “[OSBigversion]”. This code acts like a label, keeping track of different HyperOS versions. For instance, if you’re using HyperOS 1.0, it’ll show “[OSBigversion] => 1.0”.
In the past, they used “[Bigversion]” for major updates to their older system, MIUI. This “[Bigversion]” code worked similarly, showing the MIUI version number. The new “[OSBigversion]” code suggests that Xiaomi considers HyperOS a completely new system, separate from MIUI.
The new “[OSBigversion]” code helps the update system deliver the correct HyperOS version to your phone, avoiding any issues. This is a strong sign that development for HyperOS 2.0 is officially underway.
Now, about the build numbers starting with V816. Remember MIUI’s launch date, August 16th, 2010? Xiaomi seems to be using “V816” as a reference to that date. It gets a bit confusing though. Before HyperOS 1.0 came out, it had the build number V15. This suggests HyperOS 1.0 might be a renamed version of MIUI 15. So, some people thought it was a whole new system, but that’s not quite the case.
HyperOS 2.0 Update Release Time:
HyperOS 2.0 is expected to be unveiled alongside the Xiaomi 15 series this October. Xiaomi typically announces new interfaces with a big event, followed by a gradual rollout of the update. So, let’s wait patiently for HyperOS 2.0 to arrive!
