AMD announced a new line of processors for desktop computers. These new Ryzen 9000 CPUs are built using their latest design, called Zen 5. To use these new chips, you’ll need a special motherboard, either an existing AM5 one or a new model from AMD (X870E or X870). The good news is that the Ryzen 9000 CPUs are much faster than the ones before them. In fact, they’re expected to be about 16% quicker at handling everyday tasks.
In a bundle of fresh products to be released alongside the Ryzen 9000, AMD announced four new options for desktop processors: the Ryzen 9 9950X, 9900X, 7 9700X, and 5 9600X. The chips top out with core counts exactly the same as the last generation: 16, 12, 8, and 6. Online outlets have just started listing these new processors, and early prices appear to match or even be slightly lower than that of older Zen 4 models.
AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series Launch Date:
As Per Tom’s Hardware, several sources just came online that detail the launch dates for the AMD Ryzen AI 300 and Ryzen 9000 processors. Assuming these sources are valid, we could see the AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series as early as a month from now, on the 15th of July. Before the Ryzen 9000 would follow with an on-sale date of July 31.
The leak also includes some potential pricing details, but since the AMD Ryzen 9000 series’ leaks are from international sources, we will only be able to make an approximate estimation of prices against the US dollar.
When Tom’s Hardware converted the leaked prices to USD, it worked out the cheapest model—although actually the Ryzen 5 9600X—with a price of $300 and the high-end model, the Ryzen 9 9950X, for $600; however, there are other factors beyond that of a simple conversion rate, with one of those being the cost of shipping the processors into varied countries.
Pricing and Availability:
Beginning with the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X, Canada Computers has set the price at CAD 839.00 for the chip, which is less than the CAD 939.00 MSRP of the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X (the chip is also listed at CAD 719.00, which translates to $522 US (and we’ve noticed it’s been priced under $500 US recently).
The CAD 839.00 price is equivalent to $610 US, which is $90 US cheaper than the MSRP of the Ryzen 9 7950X, which was introduced at $699 US and was later replaced by the Ryzen 9 7950X3D at the same price point, but that chip is now also available for close to $500 US.
